Fishy’s Friends Rescue was born in March 2024, in Lawton, OK, thanks to a group of 15 passionate individuals, all brought together by one common bond—a love for dogs. At the very heart of our rescue is Fishy, our adorable mascot and the inspiration behind everything we do. His journey is the reason we're here today, working tirelessly to give every dog a chance at a happy, loving home.
Fishy’s story is one of hope, resilience, and second chances. He reminds us every day why we’re committed to helping dogs who find themselves lost, abandoned, neglected, or mistreated. Fishy’s Friends Rescue was founded with a clear mission: to assist dogs in need of homing assistance, focusing on those who are homeless, discarded, feral, or simply left behind.
We’re determined to avoid the heartbreaking reality of dogs languishing in shelters, where they may face an untimely and unjust fate. Our rescue especially cares for those who have been discarded due to age, health, behavioral, or other issues—because every dog deserves a second chance, just like Fishy.
As a foster-based rescue, we aim not only to save homeless dogs but also to ignite the community's spirit. By providing education, resources, and awareness about pet laws and ordinances, we’re fostering a community that looks out for its furry members. Together, we can make a huge difference in our community, all inspired by one very special dog—Fishy.

Founder & President
I am the founder and President of Fishy's Friends Rescue, though many know me better as "Fishy's Mom." My main mission is to unite our community to provide homes for dogs who find themselves without one. In my role, I am dedicated to building a strong and efficient foundation for the rescue. I am responsible for creating, communicating, and implementing our vision, mission, and overall direction, ensuring we make a lasting impact on the lives of our furry friends.
Vice President I have been a passionate supporter of Fishy's Friends Rescue since before the organization became oFISHal. I was part of the team that helped catch Fishy at the start of 2024, a milestone that truly kickstarted our journey. As Vice President, I oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring that our vision, policies, goals, and mission are effectively implemented. My role is to support the team in creating a positive impact and driving our rescue’s mission forward.

Treasurer
Christy's passion for animal welfare extends beyond her professional role. As a devoted dog mom to two very handsome Labs, she channels her love for animals into her work with the rescue. In her role as Treasurer, Christy oversees the financial health of Fishy's Friends Rescue, ensuring that every donation is used effectively to support our mission of rescuing dogs in need. With many years as an animal enthusiast, she brings a wealth of pet knowledge and expertise to help us maximize the impact of our rescue efforts.

Secretary
I officially joined the Fishy's Friends Rescue team in the summer of 2024, but I've been a friend of Fishy's Mom since before the rescue was founded. In my role as Secretary, I ensure that our meetings are efficiently organized and accurately recorded. I manage effective record-keeping and administrative tasks while also upholding the legal requirements of our governing documents, charity law, and company law. My goal is to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes to support our mission of helping dogs in need.

Human Resources
My journey with Fishy's Friends Rescue began when I adopted my dog through the rescue, and I knew I had found my place and team to make a real difference in our community. In my role, I oversee employee relations, resolve conflicts, and coordinate training and development programs. I ensure compliance with all regulations and work closely with the Executive Board to develop and implement HR policies and procedures. My goal is to create a supportive and effective environment for our team, so we can continue making a positive impact for dogs in need.
Fundraiser Coordinator
I joined Fishy's Friends Rescue in Spring 2024, driven by a desire to get involved with the community and provide homeless dogs with food kits. Since then, I've been committed to giving back and supporting our mission. In my role as Fundraiser Coordinator, I organize events and campaigns to raise funds and gather donations. I also design marketing and promotional materials to increase awareness of our rescue's work, goals, and financial needs. My aim is to ensure we have the resources needed to continue making a difference in the lives of dogs in need.
Application Coordinator
My family and I fell in love with Fishy the moment we saw his sweet face, and we tried many times to convince him to come home with us. Being part of his rescue now is truly amazing. In my role as Application Coordinator, I handle all incoming adoption, and foster applicants. I manage and communicate each applicant's progress through the process, from initial review to personal checks, and work closely with the Transitions Coordinator to onboard and offboard applicants. My goal is to ensure that all criteria are met for each applicant, helping to find the perfect matches for our rescue dogs.
